THIN VENEER
Civilisation is a thin veneer of illusion
that we all hide behind,
men in leather jackets and suits
pretend to be nice. All a lie.
Not to be trusted! Nice girls in short skirts
and body hugging dresses flash a fake smile
and woo your brother or his wife.
Always get what they want,
no matter what it takes
or at what final cost. Men are men,
from the Vikings to the scallys,
thuggery is just that. I’ll be myself
and live one day at a time, avoiding
the idiots, trying not to be one myself.
